I first discovered this place on a walking trip as a student ( or maybe some earlier reminiscence as a child on holiday surfaces). It can be both recognisable and strangely alien simultaneously, both beautiful and forbidding ( it is a National Trust beauty spot in its own right ). A place I have returned to again and again as a subject. Its geology of rockforms is fascinating yet it is the atmosphere and physical position that interests me.
